Disabled Friendly Website Awards soon to be part of Philippine Web Awards

PWAG had an initial talk with Mr. Ibarra Gutierrez, Editor-in-chief of Media G8way Corp regarding the possible inclusion of Disabled Friendly Website awards in the 10th staging of Philippine Web Awards (PWA) next year. Media G8way Corp publishes PC

World, Computerworld and IT Resource computer magazines and is responsible for PWA.

Upon Media G8way’s invitation, PWAG core group members attended the 9th Philippine Web Awards last December 7 at RCBC

Auditorium and saw how the awarding ceremony was being done.

Philippine Web Awards is an award-giving body that annually recognizes the best Filipino-created Web sites and honors the individuals and teams behind them. PWA is the local version of the American Webby Awards. Web sites

from the big corporate world, academe, government and media participate in this activity. With this potentially huge exposure, PWAG recommends that the Disabled Friendly Web Site award will initially be included as a special recognition in 2007 to increase the people’s awareness.

The problems that need to be removed as per evaluation of PWAG resident evaluator Lourdes Borgonia include typo errors, “click here” link, duplicated link text, “Read more” link is pointed into different addresses and flash file is inaccessible to a screen reader user because the cursor also animates anywhere within the page.
